Queen of the jungle

Queen of the jungle

I love the majestic African lion, however I have found over the years they are one of the hardest animals to photograph.

When I look back through all my lion pictures, most are shots of them sleeping with a full belly from an earlier hunt that I missed; legs splayed and appearing completely placid that you could almost pat them (don't!). Then they stretch and stand up, giving you false hope that something special is about to happen to just lie back down again.

For all the sleeping lion photos I have, there is that unique moment not always captured by the camera that reminds me of how special and powerful these beautiful creatures are and why they are the king and queen of the African jungle, bush veld and savannah.
