Inspiration Handmade in Kenya Finding old pieces of driftwood washed up on the beaches of Malindi, gave inspiration to a local craftsman. Buying an old abandoned boat from a fisherman he started this unique craft using rich timbers full of character from years of sailing up and down the Kenyan coast.
Creation Recycled timbers, primarily hardwoods such as mvuli, mango and mbamba kofi, from old fishing boats, canoes and dhows are used to craft each frame. No two frames are alike; each is unique in both colour and texture and are finished with an oiled hand-polish.
About This frame is made from hardwood off a dhow named 'Ashraf'. For many years she sailed up the Kenyan coast to Malindi and Lamu. No longer seaworthy, she was left to rot in the mangroves. Displays a 3' x 3' photo.
