Handmade in South Africa
A unique art form of South Africa, the origins of wire art are most likely from rural northern Kwazulu-Natal. For many years, due to a lack of resources to buy proper toys, youngsters fashioned their own toys out of discarded wire coat hangers and tin cans.
A wire frame forms the basic shape of the giraffe; thousands of glass beads are then threaded onto wire and wrapped around the frame to form this three dimensional art piece.
What child wouldn't love this bright, eye catching little treasure of a giraffe! Add some fun to a bookshelf; or group a collection of small and large animals together for a fantastic animal display. Recommend for children 5 yrs +. Not to be used as a play toy. More Safari Inspirations.
