Inspiration Handmade in South Africa A unique art form of South Africa, the origins of wire art are most likely from rural northern Kwazulu-Natal. For many years, due to a lack of resources to buy proper toys, youngsters fashioned their own toys out of discarded wire coat hangers and tin cans.
Creation A simple taffeta or pongi lined make-up bag is bought to life with copper wire and beads. Copper wire is threaded with glass beads and then woven into an intricate web design. The bag is finished with a zip closure.
About Our make-up bags are handcrafted by a group of women in the Cape Town township of Crossroads. Working from home enables these women to support their family and further their education. Gorgeous as a make-up bag, it could easily be used as an evening purse.
